At 2 and 2, the Calgary Colts sit in 3rd place in the Prairie Conference of the Canadian Junior Football League. While the coaching staff might have wanted a slightly better fate, the team still has its destiny firmly in its own hands. Three of its final four regular season games are in the friendly confines of McMahon Stadium.
Head Coach Matt “Snoop” Blokker is excited to be back at home “we play better at home, and we get to play a full roster.” He promises a very physical fast paced team performance, with an emphasis on team – “team play will be our biggest asset.”
Team President Mike Tuff would like to see fans rally around this team on three successive weekends, “the Colts are celebrating their 50th year of operations . . . it would mean a lot to these young men to see the stands full of supporters and to bring a playoff game home. “We would love to upset the pattern of those games being played in Regina or Saskatoon . . . time to start a new tradition!”
He also points to the special events – September 19 will be Keith Evans Amateur Football Night, October 4th is Colts Fight Cancer Day and Kyle Byrne’s on-going Kick for Cancer initiative. More information on each of these events elsewhere on the website.
Game tickets can be purchased via this website or at the stadium gate.
