KICKOFF NOTES

  •   For the first time since the 1991 Canadian Bowl the Saskatoon Hilltops face the Ottawa Sooners, the game will take place at SMF Field in Saskatoon

  •   The Hamilton Hurricanes host the Regina Thunder on Sunday. The Regina Rams beat the Hurricanes in their last meeting at the 1993 Canadian Bowl. Members of their 1972 National championship winning team will be recognized pre-game. That ‘Canes team beat the Regina Rams.

  •   First place in the BC Conference is on the line when the 4-0 Okanagan Sun visit the 3-1 VI Raiders

  •   The Calgary Colts host the Edmonton Huskies in the second half of a home and home

  •   Saturday afternoon the Windsor Fratmen will host the GTA Grizzlies at Alumni Field at 1:00pm because

    of a fire that burnt down their clubhouse at Windsor Stadium earlier this week

  •   Holding serve, last week in the six home victories across the CJFL, the average win was by 47.3 points

    HIGHLIGHTS FROM AROUND THE CJFL

  •   #4 Brycen Mayoh, kick returner, Vancouver Island Raiders tied the CJFL record (and set a new BC Conference one) with an 128 yard missed field goal return for a touchdown. He added 30 more yards on another missed field goal return for a total of 158 MFGR yards. He also had 110 yards and 1 TD on 4 pass receptions – and that wasn’t the end of his day. He had a punt return TD as well, with a further 96 yards on 5 returns.

  •   In the same game (Broncos at VI Raiders), #5 Max Joseph, punt returner, Kamloops Broncos had 103 punt return yards and 1 TD.

  •   #5 Quinton Bowles of the VI Raiders tied a CJFL single game record with 5 sacks last weekend

  •   #4 Trey Campbell, RB, Westhore Rebels led the offensive charge against the Langley Rams with 150

    yards and 2 touchdowns on 16 carries, and 115 yards and another TD on 5 receptions.

  •   #44 Cole Sneesby and #51 Donovan Hillary, linebackers for the Winnipeg Rifles, both had 11 assisted

    tackles — placing them in 5th place all-time in the Prairie Conference; and Donovan also had 11 solo

    tackles and 1 special teams tackle, for 35 defensive points – 5th place all-time in the Prairie Conference.

  •   #34 Ethan Hautz, RB, Regina Thunder ran for 120 yards and 1 TD on 10 carries.

  •   #21 Logan Fischer, RB, Saskatoon Hilltops carried the ball 27 times for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns

    against the Rifles, while his counterpart, #27 Michael Ritchott, RB, Winnipeg Rifles had 104 yards on 10

    carries.

  •   #1 Enzo Trunzo, receiver with the Ottawa Sooners had 4 receptions for 114 yards against the

    Hurricanes, while #15 Ivey Trey, receiver with the Hamilton Hurricanes answered with 101 yards on 6 catches. Hurricanes’ #3 Jake Marquette had an impressive day going 24-29 with 326 yards and 3 TDs.
