2017 CANADIAN JUNIOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE HOT SHEET Week 4

KICKOFF NOTES

  •   All 18 CJFL teams will be in action for the first time this season

  •   The Colts and Huskies meet for the first time since last year’s Conference semi-final game

  •   The Hilltops and Rifles combined for 657 rushing yards in Week 3, Sunday could be a running affair

  •   The Sun have recorded 5 blocked kicks this season, if they keep up this pace they will smash their own

    single season record of 11 set in 2013. The Huskers have punted a Conference high 22 times and have

    not surrendered a block

  •   The defending Ontario Conference champion Hamilton Hurricanes will play their first game. They have

    won seven straight dating back to last season

  •   The Niagara Regional Raiders, London Beefeaters, GTA Grizzlies and Hurricanes see their first action

  •   Last season the Rebels outscored the Rams 80-63 in a pair of high scoring games, this year they are 1-2

    in rushing in the BC Conference

  •   After three straight road games, the Rebels will finally play on the new turf at Westhills Stadium

  •   The Broncos have never won at Caledonia Park

  •   The Wildcats are making their first stop in Regina since 2015, their last win in Regina was 2014

    NEWS FROM AROUND THE CJFL

    #56, Tom Schnitzler, a DL from the Saskatoon Hilltops tied a PFC record on Saturday with 2 blocked kicks.

    The ground game for the Prairie teams was good, with #20 Adam Marchart, RB, Saskatoon Hilltops carrying the ball 15 times for 110 yards and a TD; #27 Michael Ritchott, RB, Winnipeg Rifles going 189 yards on 8 carries with 2 TD’s; and his teammate, #21 Odun Ogidan contributing with 195 yards on 7 carries and 1 TD.

    Not to be outdone, some Prairie and BC receivers led their teams, with #21 Dylan Minshull, Calgary Colts, having 9 receptions for 128 yards and a TD; #80 Kritopher Calcutt, Regina Thunder, catching 8 passes for 115 yards and a TD; #6 R.J. Begg, Valley Huskers playing some catch and run 3 times for 111 yards; #15 North Rainey, Vancouver Island Raiders, scoring 1 TD on 4 catches for 109 yards; #22 Kyler Mosley, Okanagan Sun, having 4 catches for 102 yards and a TD; and #23 Khalik Johnson, having 9 receptions for 136 yards and a TD.

    On defense, two Valley Huskers had outstanding days to lead the CJFL this past weekend, with #1 Dearmond Jeanson earning 20 defensive points (6 T, 2 AS, 3 AT) and #2 Danny Harris having 24 points (6 T, 1 ST, 1 KD and 2 INT’s with 42 return yards)
